At the Crest of Longing

Here's a poem from one of my poetry chapbooks, "Drug Store Vaquero":

At the Crest of Longing

A blackbird suicides off
a wedding reception window.

In Broken Bow,
children frolic in skunk hide
Halloween masks.
Gleeful hunters
share-out wolf claws
beneath fuchsia stars.

Outside a Kearney club, a lap dancer
lashes her boyfriend
with a suede fringe purse.

Beefalo burger is on sale down the street.
Kicked down doors, we meet on the run.
