1980 Durham Bulls

1980 Durham Bulls

After a number of years of absence, the Durham Bulls were brought back into organized baseball in 1980 when Miles Wolff gained a working agreement with the Atlanta Braves in 1980.

(From the Durham Bulls program: Bulls Manager "Dirty Al" Gallagher, Bulls General Manager Pete Bock, and Atlanta Braves Vice President Hank Aaron.)

Under Wolff's brilliant executive leadership, the Bulls financially thrived in the Carolina League as the Braves' top Class A team.  The Atlanta Braves hired former Giants and Angels third baseman "Dirty Al" Gallagher as field manager and  filled that first (1980) team roster with terrific players (several would enjoy Major League careers).
