Pretty baby is baking chocolate chip cookies,
fudge-nut brownies, talking lilac-quilts.
Oh, vows of spring-lush Russian olive trees.

It's a small town. A Memorial Day Carnival,
a Ferris wheel, the homeless with backpacks...
red, amber, and plum balloons curse the sky.
