MOJAVE RAMBLE-STUMBLE: A Red Shuttleworth One-Poem Chapbook

Mojave Ramble-Stumble

a poem from a decades-old notebook

Red Shuttleworth

Decades ago, back in the 1970's, when Blythe, California, had a third of its present population, back when you could drive into towns like Parker, Arizona, and get asked if you'd like to be a local librarian (without any librarian-school to your credit), I drove the Mojave, stopped at a few motels, drank in a few saloons, filled notebook pages with poems.  In 2011, after fussing and fiddling with an almost-ready-to-be-burned ancient notebook, I posted a version of Mojave Ramble-Stumble on this blog.  The places, people, and times I wrote about so long ago... they no longer exist... not really.
