Red Shuttleworth's preceding book of poems, Woe to the Land Shadowing (also published by Blue Horse Press), received the 2016 Western Heritage "Wrangler" Award for Outstanding Poetry Book from that National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum in Oklahoma City.

Red Shuttleworth is a three-time winner of the Western Writers of America Spur Award for Poetry... and True West magazine named him "Best Living Western Poet" in 2007.

Red Shuttleworth, a three-time Spur Award recipient for poetry, received the 2016 Western Heritage (Wrangler) Award for Outstanding Poetry Book for his Woe to the Land Shadowing.

Named by True West magazine in 2007 as "Best Living Western Poet," In the past half-century, Red Shuttleworth  has published poetry, fiction, drama, literary criticism, and ephemeral prose in such journals as Alaska Quarterly Review, Artforum, Foreign Affairs, Ontario Review, Poetry Now, Prairie Schooner, Roundup, South Dakota Review, Southwest Review, and Zone 3.

For the 25th Anniversary of the first presentation of Sideswipe, a one-act Red Shuttleworth play, it is issued in a limited edition as a Bunchgrass Press chapbook.

Sideswipe received its first public reading, directed by the author, on April 4, 1992, at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, with J.R. Esposito as "Jackal" and Michelle Rodda as "Wing."

Set in the present on the outskirts of a sagebrush town, Sideswipe was first published in 1933 in Neon: Artcetera from Nevada State Council on the Arts (edited by Kirk Robertson).

Red Shuttleworth's plays have been presented widely in both academic and professional venues.  His play about the calamitous draw-downs of aquifers in the American West, High Plains Fandango, commissioned and first produced by State University of New York at Fredonia, is a paperback from Humanitas Media Publishing... and is available in paperback on Amazon:

Red Shuttleworth's latest full length play, Tumbledown, a tragi-comedy, a contemporary Western, will receive a staged reading, directed by Rick Williamson, at Saddleback College in Mission Viejo on the evening of Thursday, March 16, 2016.
