Red Shuttleworth's preceding book of poems, Woe to the Land Shadowing (also published by Blue Horse Press), received the 2016 Western Heritage "Wrangler" Award for Outstanding Poetry Book from that National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum in Oklahoma City.

Red Shuttleworth is a three-time winner of the Western Writers of America Spur Award for Poetry... and True West magazine named him "Best Living Western Poet" in 2007.
